Some Italian restaurants seem like thinly veiled caricatures of what they should be. They are pastiches of board-mounted browning photos of mountain villages alongside wicker-wrapped vinegar jugs and the same old menu. At La Notte, not only is there a distinct sense that one is stepping into something truly Italian, but stylishly Italian. There are more than 300 wines to choose from to accompany home-style cooking, such as the ephemeral lentil soup or the puttanesca, which is elegance embodied in its simplicity. Most specials come with wine suggestions, sparing the wine illiterate an unfortunate culinary faux pas.

Yum O
Best meal we have had in Melbourne. Lovely atmosphere and the staff work well together. Very enjoyable. Going back tonight so hopefully if you see another review from me, twice is very good for any restaurant.

Dissapointing
After not visiting for a few years was looking forward to the dining experience which was always good, however was disappointed. Entree of soup of the day was heavily salted and uneatable, followed by bland mains which took 1 hour to be served and lacked any effort in presentation or cooking skills. Unfortunately will not dine here again.
