Named for its historic 1881 inception in what was then just a one-storey hotel, 1881 Restaurant pays fine homage to the past in its classic locale while also raising a hat to modern dining habits. The main dining room is certainly attractive, with old wooden chairs, white tablecloths and pretty paintings, but if you're lucky enough to come during the summer months, the alfresco area is the place to be. On Saturday nights, an international smorgasbord is the star attraction, but the a la carte menu is always worth a squiz, containing an award-winning steak sandwich, a kangaroo salad and Coffin Bay oysters, plus much more.
